Top 25 San Francisco Songs - Wrong!
The iTunes Top 25 San Francisco Sound Song List, called "Bay Area Essentials", was compiled by Apple for iPod downloads. Truckin' - Grateful Dead is #1 - and the list goes on, obvious choices for the most part:
Somebody To Love - Jefferson Airplane is #2, but they should've picked White Rabbit!
The Chronicle's list was compiled by music critics Aidin Vaziri and Joel Selvin, and points out "they're not in the download business". They didn't pick a sensible Airplane song either, going for the "Ballad Of You And Ma And Pooneil" (#5)
Dark Star (#2) is a vague choice, since hundreds of different versions circulate... they didn't specify one- how Dead is that?
An inspired choice from the hip was Slow Death - Flamin' Groovies (#3)
They would like to have you tell them what you think... you can still post your favorite songs by Bay Area artists or argue about their leaving out the Beau Brummels, Avengers, or Flipper but why bother at:
